my memory

now it's time to leave america.
it was my second time to visit america.
in 1996, i visited atlanta to see the olympic.
to tell the truth, i can't remember a lot. when i arrived here,
everything was curious and awesome for me. however,
as i have studied english here, i have missed my family,
country and friend so much.
before coming here, i wanted to make american friends, but i'm not brave.
i mean i'm not talkative so it's little bit hard to make a american friends.
i think active personality is good for learning english.
i have traveled a lot,orlando, panama city, atlanta, memphis, new orleans.
it was really good travel. i always traveled with my family. this time, it was
different experiences.
anyway, i will be a sophomore in korea. it will be a hard
because i've never studied my major for 3years.
i will do my best.
finally,thorugh the studying abroad, i got a best present,Ashley~haha

finally, lord asriel betray his daughter!
he went to another world. could we say ariel and mrs.coulter villain?
i think they just wanna know what the dust is and what the orgin of world is.
anyway, how poor lyra is! he started to journey only bringing the alethiometer to
her father. but she knew her father control whole thing and killed her friend.
i wondered Kim already read other golden compass series.
maybe at the next book, she will follow her partents.
it's so ridiculous. and Akiyo said she heard tgc is very controvertial at the news.
i think it's true. church describe as a evil. for the christian, this book is so terrible. but i'm not a christian so i don't care haha~
i really expect to watch tgc movie.
whenever i watch the movie which made basis on the novel, it's worse than novel.
i think one reason is, in the book, we can imagine freely, but in the movie we can't imagine, only watch something.
anyway, i wish movie is good.

art

in the class, we have learned about history of the art,especially period of reneissance. of course, it's interesting, but i don't know how to write about that topic. so i think about what we can get from the art.

for me, art is very hard so when i saw art exhibition, i cound't feel anythinh.
but some drawing feel good. for example, drawing about nature such as mountain, river, birds and so on.
in my house, father has a big drawing which draw a high mountain of Korea.
i think drawing is one of the instinct of the human.
i like to draw something even though i can't very well.
anyway, i can get sort of peace and rest from the art.

north korea

korea is divided into two countries;south and north korea.
one day i saw the news. anchor said americans doesn't understand south korean
because they looks like do not care about north korea even though they have a
nuclear weapons and try to beat other countries.
south korean know that north korea has a nuclear weapon.
however, we don't care becuase we are the one people who have same ancestor.
of course,they can attack other countries, but they must not attack their another
bro. is it just our own thinking?
sometimes i imagine that we become a one nation.
it means we become strong country. more natural resources, people, brain, place and so on.
it will be a really helpful to us.
when i was young, i heard something about our unification of south and north korea.
the main reason why we couldn't unify a nation is other strong countries such as america,china,japna and so on.
if i were them, i also wouldn't wanna unification of korea.
i think korea has a lot of posibilityies because we are the high ranked nation in the world even though we have very small country.
if we became a one nation, we would be a more stroger than before.
anyway,it's just rumor.haha
now,i think it's too late becom a one nation.
because it is serious a disparity in economic power between the two countries more and more.besides, young people doesn't wanna pay for them.
anyway, north korea should change their mind;communism to democracy.it's first.

part two : bolvangar

lyra had a lot of experience in bolvanger where many children are captured.
maybe that experience is the most terrible one in her life.
she saw severed daemons and almost take severing by the man.
i think story is not a much detail.

one thing is cage. in the cage, there are many severed daemons and they must keep secret about that. however, they couldn't guard,only lock the door. is it enough?
other thing is mrs.coulter. she decribe as a very genius person.
when she found lyra,she was really concerned about lyra.
i think she could know that lyra was lying to her. it's so easy.
she already changed her name and told different story to the man who in the bolvangar.

i feel story is very interesting, but luck is too much follow lyra.
anyway, all famous novel or movie whatever, it has a strong reversal.
for example, actually, lyra plot the all thing. or lee scorsby is the master of the
oblation board.
i wanna know how the story is ended1

soccer

it's hard to say my life without soccer~haha
when i was a child, i enjoyed playing soccer because i coulnd't find other exercise
in Korea. however, after middle school, i only focused on the study. of course, sometimes i played soccer but it was hard as i got old.
suddenly, i entered army. in the army, only sports was soccer.
how terrible it was!
if someone play soccer very well in the army, he will be loved by many people.
on the other hand, if not, just imagine what will happen.
naturally, i wasn't a good player. therefore, people whose position was higher than
me commanded to practice, blamed and scorned me.
so i hate soccer. nevertheless, i like to watch soccer games,especially world cup.
many people enjoy watching and playing soccer.
However, author said soccer isn't famous in the usa.
i agree that fact, but i disagree his opinion why soccer isn't famous in the usa.
i think the reason is america has too many famous and interesting sports. that's all

art

what is the art? i haven't thought deeply about the art.
and what is the relationship between the art and history.
oh,it makes me dizzy.
anyway, we studied basic history of the art in the textbook.
for example, artists in ancient greece and rome, the middle ages, and the renaissance.
i think basis of the art is ancient greece.
because whatever i see the sculpture of ancient artists, it looks similar.
anyway i can't talk well about the art,especially textbook's subject.

when i visit art exhibition, sometimes i wondered why this work are famous.
i mean,there is just several lines in the paper. but that's all.
and artist said it's art. only several line in the paper! is it the art?
i can't understand. what that mean?
am i stupid?haha~

is a brad pitt a good mate?
i considred brad pitt as a famous and rich person.
actually, i agree with that opinion.

he is rich;almost women like rich person.
also,he can earn money easily.
entertainets are usaully called "moving company."
because always cameranmans follow them to take a picture, and
people can see their pictures everywhere.
companies don't miss that chance;they wanna advertise their product by giving their product free.even though you are not a famous actor, the fact that you are a mate of famous person is attractive to the company because you're always together with your mate. you also get expensive free stuff.
it's a good and big deal.
finally, even though you get divorce with your mate, you can get a lot of money
for your divorce.it's called consulation money.
anyway, if i had a chance to have famous mate, it would be a awesome experience.

they land the boat in trollesund, the main port of lapland because
they should make sure whether witches will help them or not.
At the witch consul, they could get many information about the GOB,armored bear, and
Lyra's role and so on.
Then, they tried to hire Iorek, because he is very strong.
Even though,there are some conflict between Iorek and town poeple, Lyra can persuade
him not to take revenge and just go with them to north.
Finally, they set off farther north on the sledges.

they finally prepare all things which is needed at the north.
For example, strong warrior and information about enermy.
In the chapter, I found very interesting thing.
Before reading this chapter, i considered daemons usually are belonged to their owner.
however, in the book, Pan intends to pull lyra by force,even though she doesn't want.
does it mean daemon and human can't share their mind?
it's little bit unnatural point.
Anyway, i'm excited to read next chapter.

can botox treat depression along with wrinkles?

i read that article on the internet because it's so funny title i've ever seen.
how does botox treat people's depression?
before i read this article,it's just interesting for me.
However, after reading, i felt we've missed something very important in our life.

Briefly, there were 10wome. they were interviewed by psychologist who said that they were depressed. also, they filled out depression survey.then 10 women got botox injection.
2 months later, they repeated depression survy and interviewed with psychologist.
9 women,their depression have lifted.
10th women still had symptoms of depression, but she showed improvement.
anchor asked question the chemical itself in botox or something else that erased depression. answer was no one know but solid theory is that it's a social reaction.
Social reaction! i think it's important point.

for example, you smile, people smile back at you.
but it's the case of beautiful smile.i mean you smile beautifully, people smile beautifully back at you, whereas you smile ugly, people smile ugly back at you.
there's social feedback that is triggerd by your facial expressions.
i think one of the reason is mass media such as TV and internet.
every day,people watch and contact with tv. in the tv, there are many men and women who are nice,sexy and who have beautiful face appearance. as many people watch tv more and more, they are affected by tv even though they couldn't perceive.
so if they get old and get wrinkles, they will compare with themselves and other people who are seen by tv. it's possible and it's more common today especially for young people.
how about think about hidden fact behind the botox injection?

eventually, we know who mrs.courter and lord asriel is.
they are lyra's parents. it's really curious.
at first, i think master was the good man even though he
tried to kill asriel.
because master has watched and raised lyra for a long time.
so I think asriel had a some kind of bad plan through lyra.
however, we find out asriel is lyra's father.
in my opinion, if he is father of lyra, he is absolutely lyra's person.
i mean he won't hurt her.
then it means master is not good person?
i'm sure that one of them,asriel and master,are rascal.
maybe i can find the truth rest of the chapter;it's not far.
also,she know how to operate the alethiometer.
what lyra will ask to the alethiometer, and what result will be popped(make sense?)?
anyway, i feel that current chapter is very fast scene changing.

how to punctuate

Actually,before i read this article,i didn't concerned too much
about punctuation because it's not a difficult work.
period means end,comma means connection,semicolon,quotation mark and so on.
however,this article gave me how to improve my essay better.
even though i've known about the punctuation,
i've never studied about punctuation
deeply and exactly.
the author teached exact meaning of punctuation and usage.
some parts are already studied at the structure class, but other parts are new.
also,i learned we can speech more effectively by using proper punctuation.
through the speaking class, i've felt that punctations were really important.
i should know where i keep going or rest.
if i have a chance to read this author's book,i;ll focus on his puctuation work.

why did i get married?

I whatched "why did i get married"at the cobb movie theater about 2weeks ago.
the reason why i chose that movie was that movie was 1st ranked at that time.
after i got a ticket,i recognized this movie was black comedy movie.
i was little bit worried because for me, it has been really hard to understand
black people's speaking.
however,i could understand very well.
anyway that movie was awesome.
people who watched movie together stood up, laugh and shout.
i've never seen like that enthusiastic atmosphere.
i really recommend 'why did i get marrid?'.to you.

let me write movie story simply.
there were 4married couples and all of them were friends.
every the end of the year,they gathered and talked what happened this year.
during the meeting, one girl was so drunken so she told all secret things
between other couples.
due to her exposure, meeting finished and all of couple got hurt.
then, author showed us how they deal with their problems between them.
i was really impressed the way how to solve the problem.

the golden compass

chapter 2and3 was harder than chapter 1.
at first,I tried to search all the word which I didn't know
because last session, I didn't do that so I couldn't understand exactly.
however, chapter 3 was the longest chapter so i couldn't find all the word.
but i could guess enough.
anyway, the story is interested more and more.
especially, i wonder what the lore asriel do now and what the master's plan.
also, I want to know why children disappered.
maybe children will use in sacrifice for the god?
I really want to read fastly and know what the consequence is.
but you know, it's really hard.
even though i read fast, i can't understand.
if the book is written Korean,I would read all day.
i think author love to use symbol such as daemon dust.
it looks like connected to god or catholic.
the author must know perfectly about the history of the world.
i'm really interested in finding his intention in the book.

Behavior

First of the chapter, the author said we didn't need to
care to attach too much meaning to what animals do.
I think the reason is animals act instinctively.
And then author said fear of snakes is a learned behavior in humans.
There is an irony.

when we approach to the snakes, they threaten us with swishing sound.
of course, even though they don't recognize what they are doing,one thing is sure
that they protect themselves.
they threaten others, so enemy leave. this is the purpose of the action.
However, author said fear of snakes is a learned behavior.
Then, why snakes threaten other people?
snakes want to show us not to approach them.
Even the baby who have a little knowledge of the world can know
why the snakes maek sound instintively.
Therefore, in my opinion, when the babis face snakes at first,
they feel threatening instintively.
it's not the learned behavior.
Simply, the snakes behave instintively to protect themselves, and that behavior
apply to the enemy instintively,also.
Eventaully, even though enemy doesn't know about the snakes, enemy can feel what
the snkes want to show.
(Actually, during the writing, I was also confused what my opinion was.hahaha)

cohabitation(free topic)

Through the ELI speaking class, I had discussed about the cohabitation.
Everytime I discussed, my opinion was same:cohabitation must be abolished.
Why people live together without marriage?
I think there is not any reason.
Some people said that we didn't have enough money to get married,
so at first we just lived together and then we would get married.
Actually, almost Korean think marriage ceremoney is really importatnt and must do.
However, If certain couple really love each other, they can get married without
ceremony.
ceremony doesn't big problem to live together.
Besides, some research has showed us unmistakable evidence.
People who choose cohabitation usually break up.
If I chose cohabitation, that whould mean that I just enjoyed with girl.
If my son,especially my daughter,chose cohabitation,I turn them out the house.
Anyway, I'm absolutely against cohabitation.

Novel assignment

I read the novel,"The body in the library",at the level 5 reading class.
Actually, I like a mystery and fantasy novel.
However, even though the novel which I read last session was a mystery,
it was a little bit boring and hard to read.
Fortunately,when I read the new novel's first chapter, I liked it.
It's very important to me if I feel good at the intro or not.

At the first chapter, Lyra who is curious girl watched Master put the white powder
into the wine by chance.
She tried to tell to Asriel because he was her uncle even though she feared him
When Asriel found out her in the room, he was so angry because the room had not
allowed the woman.
However,he believed her so he broke the wine bottle.

I agree Pan's opinion. He said that she must not interfere Master's plan even though
that was wrong.
That's not her business.
Besides, she was not sure if the powder was poison or not.
It could be just seasoning for the wine. She didn't know backgroung.
It's too fast to judge Master's behavior.
Lyra and including all others should not decide something to wathc only
one time.

my strengths and weaknesses in writing

the biggest problem in my essay is that I'm too much thinking.
For that reason, I exhausted easily even though I just think.
Someone said creation was the hardest behavior in the world.
I think why I think too long is I have not written essays many times.
Maybe even though I write essay in Korean, I feel hard.
However, I have written a lot of essays in ELI and
Every time I feel my skill develop even small and slow.
The most important thing which I think is I should write essay regulary.

Organization

I always think carefully about organization.
My essay should be arranged.
When I came here, my first reading class level was 3.
And, I could get high score than others because my essay
had good organization including intro,body and conclusion.
At that level 3, nobody learned about organization.
Now everyone know how to make good organization, so if I want
to get good score, I should make my essay better in other ways, not just organization.
However, it's hard for me yet.

Grammar

At first, I tried to write essay very correctly in grammar.
However, one teacher said grammar is not important than express my idea fluently.
He said do not care about grammar too much and care about how to express your
idea clearly.
At that time, I feel very comfortable because I always too much concerned about
grammar.
Anyway, he gave me bad score due to the grammar.
Maybe I didn't too much think about grammar.
